4. Beacon Hill to Upwaltham.

Beacon Hill leading into Harting starts with a climb then leads into Harting Down, which is a fast downhill chalky section which requires some care as can be slippery when wet. You will then have to go around to the right of the stone pile with post, this takes you around the hill. The hill is not cyclable and is not part of the SDW.

There is a road crossing near Cocking, with a large free car park and after the road crossing (busy road, take care), there is a water tap.

After another 5 miles you will come to the next road crossing near Upwaltham.
